Nate Mingo

Born on December 31, 1983 Nathaniel A. Mingo, Jr. (Nate Mingo) came into the world right before the countdown to the new year. My mother said that i was born with a smile on my face. She had me alone while my dad was in the military. She raised me with manners and a great sense of humor that i got from her and my dad. Growing up with just her was fun because she taught me how to be more than a man. She taught me how to be a gentleman. Six years later, my little sister was born and i moved in with my grandparents. I lived with them for almost 4 years. They taught me discipline and how to respect people. Killing people with kindness was one thing that my grandfather was strict on.

Throughout my teenage years, i was pretty silly in school and wherever i went i drew attention if there was a crowd of people. I've enjoyed making people laugh all my life. But never in a million years would i have thought that i would be doing comedy. I was a class clown but i didn't play too much because my dad who's still a cop, patroled the middle and high school that i went to. I was once kicked off the basketball team because my coach thought that i played too much. I wasn't in the NBA or anything, so i figured i could have fun all the time. People would always told me to take drama but i've always had a hard time getting serious about so many things. My mom was strict on me about being so silly when i needed to take things serious. I was on the A/B Honor roll on every report card but i loved to play because life is too short to be mad about anything.

After high school i went to college for a year, but paying for college wasn't easy. I later found out that i had a son on the way (Jaydon) who is now seven years old. He inspires me to make people laugh because he is just as silly as i am. He means the world to me and he always asks me will i ever be on TV. I always tell him that one day daddy will be on TV and he'll see me. I decided to do comedy one day when i was at work and my boss told me to come to comedy night at a club in Beaumont, Texas. He said that i always tell free jokes at work and i should try it. I gave it a shot and now I'm working my way to the top. When i was a kid, i watched BET's comic view everyday after school at 7:30. Cedric the Entertainer was and still is my favorite comedian. I would watch him every night. My grandmother would say, "They better not be cursing on that comedy show." Right now i'm working and doing comedy part-time. I hope that one day this becomes more than a dream and it's full time.

At the end of the day, I love life itself and if it was up to me the whole world would just laugh all day and there wouldn't be a such thing and SAD.
